D. Craig Fox is a senior attorney in
the Public Law Department at Richards, Watson & Gershon. He
has served as Deputy and Assistant City Attorney to numerous cities
and is currently Assistant City Attorney and Planning Commission
Counsel to the Cities of La Mirada, Brea, Mission Viejo and Buena
Park. Mr. Fox has over 25 years of municipal law experience, both
as a litigator of municipal and police tort defense, code enforcement
and land use cases in state and federal courts, and as an advisor
to City Councils, Planning Commissions, police, fire and other city
departments. Mr. Fox regularly advises and assists cities in all
areas of municipal law and its administration including the drafting
of legislation, drafting and negotiation of contracts such as wireless
and other types of leases, public works, software licenses, computer
and other technology related agreements, and inter-agency agreements,
responding to Public Records Act requests, preparing planning resolutions,
ordinances and related documents, and providing risk management
advice. A substantial portion of Mr. Fox's practice is also devoted
to advising police and fire departments on policies and procedures
and handling criminal Pitchess motions and related discovery requests.
His litigation background provides him with a unique perspective
and ability to effectively handle a wide range of municipal issues.
