Melissa M. Crosthwaite is an associate
in the Public Law Department at Richards, Watson & Gershon.
Ms. Crosthwaite concentrates on the representation of public agencies
in a wide range of government law issues. She is Assistant City
Attorney for the Cities of South El Monte and San Fernando. Ms.
Crosthwaite has also made presentations to the Southern California
City Clerk's Association, California Contract Cities and the California
Latino Caucus Institute. In addition, Ms. Crosthwaite has made ethics
training presentations in both English and Spanish.
Ms. Crosthwaite obtained her law degree from the UCLA School of
Law where she was Associate Editor for the Chicano-Latino Law
Review and was a member of La Raza Law Students Association.
During law school, Ms. Crosthwaite participated as a summer law
clerk with the Department of Justice's Executive Office for Immigration
Review at the Krome Detention Center in Miami, Florida and volunteered
at Public Counsel's Immigrant Rights Project. She received her Bachelor's
Degree at the University of California, Los Angeles, summa cum
laude and with College Honors.
Prior to joining Richards, Watson & Gershon, Ms. Crosthwaite
represented school districts and community college districts throughout
California and developed an expertise in various areas of education
law.
