Robert C. Ceccon is a shareholder in the Litigation Department
at Richards, Watson & Gershon. Mr. Ceccon has tried more than
25 lawsuits, and has arbitrated dozens more. Mr. Ceccon's primary
area of practice involves representing governmental entities in
litigation. He has represented the following entities: Barstow,
Beverly Hills, Brea, Buena Park, Calimesa, Carson, Hesperia, Lynwood,
Malibu, Palmdale, Pasadena, Rancho Cucamonga, Redondo Beach, Rialto,
Stanton, Temecula, Upland, West Hollywood and the County of Ventura.
He represents governmental entities in lawsuits involving a variety
of claims including dangerous conditions of public property, civil
rights, personal injury, inverse condemnation, construction defects,
police liability, and actions to recover delinquent taxes. He has
also represented private entities in litigation, including Hewlett
Packard Company and DHL.
Mr. Ceccon acted as lead trial counsel for the County of Ventura
in two lawsuits brought by more than 80 plaintiffs arising out of
the La Conchita landslide of January 10, 2005, which resulted in
10 deaths and numerous claims for personal and property damage.
Mr. Ceccon successfully defended the County against all claims.
Mr. Ceccon is an expert on the California Tort Claims Act and has
authored a book for the California Continuing Education of the Bar
titled “Action Guide: Handling Claims Against Government Entities.”
Mr. Ceccon was a member of the Moot Court Honors Program and the
Federal Communications Law Journal while at UCLA School of Law.
