William B. Rudell is a senior counsel
at Richards, Watson & Gershon and a member of the Public Law
Department. After joining the firm in 1985, Mr. Rudell was primarily
involved in providing legal services to the cities of Carson, South
El Monte, Avalon, Artesia, Seal Beach, and Rancho Palos Verdes.
From mid-1988 through November 1997, he served as the City Attorney
of Palmdale, one of the most rapidly growing cities in California.
He also served as City Attorney of South Gate from 1990-1993, as
City Attorney of Lynwood from 1993-1997, and as interim City Attorney
of Hidden Hills from June 1999 to August 2000. Mr. Rudell was admitted
to the New York State Bar in 1968 and the California State Bar in
1969.
Between 1970 and 1985, Mr. Rudell served continuously as either an elected
or appointed official in the City of Burbank, holding the positions of
Planning Board member and chairman, Burbank City Councilman and Mayor,
Commissioner and President of the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority,
and Burbank City Attorney. Before assuming his prior position as Burbank
City Attorney, he had 14 years experience with a Los Angeles law firm
engaged in general practice where he represented clients in business,
commercial, and corporate legal matters.
In addition to his participation in various governmental law organizations,
Mr. Rudell is an active member of the Los Angeles Consular Corps. He
has held the post of Consul of the Republic of Botswana (located in Southern
Africa) since 1971.
