Alert
01.02.2019

The Division of the State Architect (DSA) has issued the Model Notice for use by cities and counties in advising applicants for commercial construction building permits and business licenses about state and federal disability access laws as required by AB 3002. As outlined in our E-Alert dated December 19, 2018, cities and counties must provide the public notice to permit applicants beginning January 1, 2019.

The English version of the Model Notice is posted at the following link: Voluntary Certified Access Specialist (CASp) program

The DSA is currently preparing the Model Notice in the five other required languages (Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, Vietnamese, and Korean), and will post those model notices on the DSA website as soon as they are available. Cities and counties should check the website frequently for updates.

If you have questions regarding AB 3002, or other disability access laws, please contact Amy Greyson.
